Greetings for the West Papuan National Liberation!
Demanding the Netherlands and the United Nations to be Responsible for the Occupation of West Papua!
Most Indonesians are very sure that West Papua is part of Indonesia. But history says: West Papua is not a legitimate part of Indonesia!
On December 1, 1961, the people of West Papua declared their independence. However, the declaration was not recognized by the Indonesian government, and considered it a puppet country made in the Netherlands. The Indonesian government, led by Soekarno at the time, then annexed through the Trikora program which later manifested itself into a series of military operations. People become victims.
Previously, on December 27, 1949 during the recognition of the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia by the Dutch Government, West Papua was a non-self-governing colony and thus recognized by the United Nations and the Netherlands, which at that time became its colonial administrative authority.
Papua is still under the control of the Netherlands (which promises decolonization), at least until Indonesia makes efforts to "liberate" Papuan land. Post Trikora, the Dutch who were supposed to be responsible for decolonization instead signed a New York Agreement (New York Agreement) related to the dispute over the West New Guinea (West Papua) region on August 15, 1962 without involving the People of West Papua. The agreement only involved 3 parties including Indonesia, the Netherlands and the United States as mediators. Although it is clear that the agreement was related to the survival of the people of West Papua.
This agreement regulates the future of the West Papua region which consists of 29 Articles which regulate 3 kinds of things, in which articles 14-21 regulate Self Determination based on international practice, namely one person one vote (One Person One Vote) . And articles 12 and 13 regulate administrative transfers from the UN Temporary Administration Agency (UNTEA) to
In 1963, when Indonesia took over administrative responsibility for West Papua, the territory remained the status of a non-self-governing colony entitled to self-determination under international law. This right is recognized by Indonesia in the New York Agreement which reinforces the fact that Indonesia has no legal sovereignty over West Papua. The existence of Indonesia in West Papua is a colonial administration that can be permanent only if the people of West Papua choose integration through self-determination with procedures required by international law.
The only self-determination taken was PEPERA which was NOT SAH in 1969. NO SAH, because only 1022 people (4 other people did not take part) were involved in the collection or less than 0.2% of the Papuan population, who agreed for integration with Indonesia. Deliberations to reach agreement legitimize Indonesia to implement PEPERA which is undemocratic, full of terror, intimidation and manipulation and the existence of gross human rights violations. In fact the results of the implementation of the PEPERA were only recorded at the UN General Assembly through Resolution 2504 (XXIV) which did not say that PEPERA had been carried out in accordance with the New York Agreement and the process of meeting the standards of "self-determination" as mandated by UN Resolutions 1514 and 1541 ( XV).
Because the takeover is NOT SAH, West Papua is not a legitimate part of Indonesian territory. However, non-self-governing territories are under occupation.
Terror, intimidation, detention, shootings and even killings of the Papuan people continue to occur today. The Rights of the People of Papua have no value for Indonesia.
So, in commemoration of the Independence Day of West Papua, the Indonesian People's Front for West Papua (FRI-WP) together with the Papuan Student Alliance (AMP) and the Central Papua Indonesian Mountains Student Association (AMPTPI) expressed our political attitude to the Jokowi-Jusuf Kalla Regime, Netherlands and the United Nations to immediately:
1. The Netherlands must be responsible for completing the West Papua Decolonization process as promised.
2. The United Nations must be responsible and actively engage fairly and democratically in the process of self-determination, historical rectification, and human rights violations that occur against the West Papua nation.
3. Give Freedom and the Right to Determine Yourself as a Democratic Solution for the Papuan People.
4. Organic and non-organic military (TNI-Polri) withdrawals from the whole land of Papua.
5. Close BP Freeport, Tangguh LNG, and other International Corporations, which are masterminds of Humanitarian Crimes over Papua.
6. Freedom of information, expression, organization and opinion for West Papua Nation must be opened wide and guaranteed
7. Open access to international journalists in West Papua
8. Supports ULMWP Membership in the Melanesia Spearhead Group and the Pacific Island Forum
9. Advise the Indonesian people who live in West Papua to support the struggle of the Papuan people in determining their own destiny.
Thus this statement was made, for the support, participation and cooperation of all parties, we thank you very much.
Greetings of Democracy!
