Jayapura - The Indonesian government was asked to immediately find a solution related to the demand for independence which is still often echoed by armed groups in the Papua region.

Papua Governor Lukas Enembe, said the problem that occurred in Nduga Regency recently, was due to demands for independence from armed groups that often operate in the area.

"There is no way or approach that we can do. I have had quite a long experience with this situation. Basically they are asking for independence, they do not need development from the past," Enembe told reporters in Jayapura on Monday (17/12 / 2018).

He stressed, the history of Papua's journey is tortuous so it must be resolved. This means that the solution must be clear, because every movement carried out by armed groups in Papua demands is independence.

"This group's demands from year to year are independent," he said.

According to him, since the trans Papua road construction project was carried out, he already knew that there would definitely be a lot of security disturbances, because armed groups in the region did not want development. Because they think there is a way to kill them.

But because this development is the President's desire to open isolation in Papua, the road and bridge construction projects continue to this day.

"We surveyed the first time, I was the chairman of the association. But after the funds came down from the hall, the TNI went down. Moreover, we got the news that won the TNI tender, but why was it given to civilians to do it," Enembe said.

"If you want to make the Papuan people prosperous, then involve Papuans in every job while guarding work, it's only safe," he continued.

Enembe said, armed groups in the Nduga region already knew of officers who often disguised themselves as civilians, moreover the bridge work in Nduga was known to be done by the TNI so they did it like that.

Nevertheless, Governor Lukas Enembe advised that the Papuan people should not be provoked by the incident in Nduga District, because those who did it were armed groups who demanded independence.

"You don't need to think about it because it has become the duty of the TNI. What must be guarded is not to let ordinary people become victims. Therefore, we will meet and discuss this," he said.

"Maybe later there will be an investigation team that will check the situation that happened in Nduga, with the hope that there will not be any civilians who become victims," he continued. (*)
