The History of Trikora Speeches and Sukarno's Ambitions Control Papua

Trikora's speech was Sukarno's initial campaign to control West Irian.

tirto.id - On Sunday morning 19 December 1948, the Republic of Indonesia was attacked by Dutch forces led by Simon Hendrik Spoor. The attack was named Operation Gagak and targeted Yogyakarta, the capital of the Republic. In Indonesian history, this event was recorded as an unforgettable military aggression.

But a year later the situation turned around. Thanks to diplomacy and international pressure, the Netherlands was forced to leave according to the Round Table Conference agreement (KMB) at the end of 1949. The Dutch had to recognize Indonesian sovereignty on December 27, 1949.

Based on the KMB, the territory of Indonesia covers the former territory of the Netherlands East Indies, except Papua - which in the agreement will be submitted a year later. However, after more than a year, Papua, which was rich in mining products, was never handed over. Indonesia is of course angry. Moreover, KMB was very detrimental to Indonesia because it had to pay the Indies debt of 4.3 billion guilders.

KMB is then canceled. Not only that, Dutch companies operating in Indonesia were nationalized. state wealth certainly increases from here. In addition, the expulsion of the Dutch people was carried out. One of the expelled was a keroncong singer Wieteke van Dort who was famous for the song "Geef Mij Maar Nasi Goreng" (1979).

The Netherlands still wants to rule

The Dutch kissed bad signs and tried to strengthen Papua. The Netherlands then behaved sweetly to indigenous Papuans. In February 1961 there were new parliamentary elections and the Papuan National Committee was formed on 19 October 1961.

Papua's defense is also strengthened. Apart from the existing Dutch military power, empowering Papuans was carried out.

"On April 4, 1960 the Dutch sent their mother ships, Karel Doorman" to West Irian, on the grounds of holding a "Flag Exhibition" (Vlagvertoon) which was joined by several other warships, "wrote the book Irian Barat in our area (1962: 30) released by the Indonesian Ministry of Information.

The same month, as written by P.J. Drooglever in free choice action!: Papuans and self-determination (2010), the first units of Papoea Vrijwilligers Corps aka Korps Papua Volunteers began to be educated. The corps had been planned since 1950 and was carried out very slowly by the Dutch. But in 1960 they couldn't help but speed it up (p. 409).

Sukarno and his assistants certainly knew the Dutch would not make it easier for their opponents to attack Papua. At least, on March 6, 1961, a large number of battering forces with the name of the 1st Army Corps (Korra-1) were formed. Brigadier General Soeharto became his Commander. Korra then turned into the Army General Reserve (Tjaduad) and later became the Army Strategic Reserve Command (Kostrad).

At the level of the government elite, the National Council (Depertan) was formed on December 11, 1961. Three days later, as noted in one of the books on the history of the Army, History of the Army, 1945-1973: The role of the Army in defending the unitary state of the Republic Indonesia (1979), in the Depertan session on December 14, 1961 the Supreme Operations Command (Koti) was formed. In the organization Sukarno acted as number one, followed by A.H. Nasution and commander-in-chief of forces (p. 79).

Sukarno Burns Mass

The Indonesian people, who at that time certainly did not know much about the contents of the KMB and the importance of Papua, were targeted by Sukarno's campaign. "President Sukarno chose a place and time that was symbolic," wrote Harsya Bachtiar in an article entitled "History of Irian Jaya" in a book edited by Koentjaraningrat, Irian Jaya: Building a Comprehensive Society (1994: 87).

Sukarno chose December 19, 1961, exactly today 57 years ago, as the starting point of the campaign. The place is North Square, Yogyakarta.

He took that date on the grounds that: thirteen years earlier, on December 19, 1948, Yogyakarta had been trampled by Dutch troops under the command of General Simon Hendrik Spoor. Near the square, inside the State Palace of Gedung Agung, which is located at the southern end of Jalan Malioboro, Sukarno and other officials are held captive.

The Indonesian side recalled this event as Dutch Military Aggression II. The bleak past seemed to be piled up with new memories of the war against the Dutch, in seizing West Irian.

According to Rosihan Anwar in Sukarno, Army, PKI: Triangle of Power Before Political Tempest, 1961-1965 (2006: 85), it is said that Muhamad Yamin was the proponent of his election on December 19 at the Depertan session on December 11, 1961. For Rosihan, this speech became anticlimactic (p. 85).

"Crowds of people gathered on the square square in front of the Yogyakarta Palace. "Radio transmitters contact the ceremony with residents throughout Indonesia," Harsya Bachtiar wrote.

In Mangil Martowidjojo's notes contained in the book Testimony About Bung Karno 1945-1967 (1999), "this giant meeting was visited by hundreds of thousands of people from the Yogyakarta area and outside the Yogyakarta area, so that the North Square in Yogyakarta became a sea of people" (p. 322 )

Videos from the Indonesian National Archives show how the cars carrying Sukarno's entourage with his bodyguards were welcomed by the people around Tugu Yogyakarta and then crossed Jalan Pangeran Mangkubumi, then continued to the south.

Lieutenant General Soegito will not forget that historic day. 1961 was the last year of Soegito at the National Military Academy (AMN) and a giant meeting to liberate West Irian along with the inauguration of the 1961 AMN cadet.

Soegito was only one of the generals, other friends who later became important people were Zain Ashar Maulani (former Head of BIN) and Feisal Tanjung (Former Commander of the Armed Forces). Benny Adrian in Soegito's biography, Lt. Gen. (Pur) Soegito, Bakti A Soldier of Stoottroepen (2015), noted that not only cadets would be appointed to attend, but also cadets who were more junior.

So at exactly 9:00 on Tuesday, December 19, 1961, Sukarno made a speech burning the enthusiasm of the people.

Pemerintah PNG mendukung kedaulatan Indonesia atas Papua Barat.

Namun gubernur mengatakan konflik akan terus berlanjut kecuali keinginan tak terpadamkan Papua Barat untuk penentuan nasib sendiri yang sah terpenuhi.

The Family of Paniai Shooting Victims Refuses Rp. 4 Billion Offered by the Government

Friday, December 7, 2018.

JAKARTA, Families of victims of shooting cases in Paniai Regency, Papua, refused Rp4 billion worth of money that the government had offered as compensation.

This was stated by Obet Gobay, one of the victims of the shooting victim, when he visited the Amnesty International office in Central Jakarta on Friday (7/12/2018).

Obet's arrival in Jakarta was to collect the promise of President Joko Widodo who said he would investigate the shooter who killed his son, Apius Gobay, four years ago.

Obet, who is not fluent in Indonesian, said that he and three other victims' families refused compensation because they wanted the government to continue to find out the perpetrators of the shootings.

"The Rp. 4 billion offered by the government, I refused, whatever assistance I refused. Pak Jokowi, the National Police Chief, justice must exist," Obet said through the translation of Papuan human rights activist Yones Douw.

Obet did not receive compensation, because, for him, his son's life could not be bought.

"If I want to take the Rp. 4 billion offered by the government, I can take it. If that is the cow or pig that was killed, I can go to the market to buy it. But this is human, not sold in the market. My blood is shot," he said.

Obet also said, if indeed the government was unable to complete the case, he hoped the United Nations (UN) could solve it.

Affirming Obet's statement, Amnesty International Indonesia's researcher for Papua, Papang Hidayat, said, in a case, compensation money given to the government was considered a substitute or a substitute for court proceedings.

If the victim's family receives the compensation, then they can no longer sue.

"The compensation that is trying to be given to the victim's family is considered as a substitute substitute from the court. So if he accepts, it is considered that he should not talk anymore," said Papang.

The Governor of Papua asked the Indonesian government to immediately find a solution to the demand for independence

========== ≠ =========

Jayapura - The Indonesian government was asked to immediately find a solution related to the demand for independence which is still often echoed by armed groups in the Papua region.

Papua Governor Lukas Enembe, said the problem that occurred in Nduga Regency recently, was due to demands for independence from armed groups that often operate in the area.

"There is no way or approach that we can do. I have had quite a long experience with this situation. Basically they are asking for independence, they do not need development from the past," Enembe told reporters in Jayapura on Monday (17/12 / 2018).

He stressed, the history of Papua's journey is tortuous so it must be resolved. This means that the solution must be clear, because every movement carried out by armed groups in Papua demands is independence.

"This group's demands from year to year are independent," he said.

According to him, since the trans Papua road construction project was carried out, he already knew that there would definitely be a lot of security disturbances, because armed groups in the region did not want development. Because they think there is a way to kill them.

But because this development is the President's desire to open isolation in Papua, the road and bridge construction projects continue to this day.

"We surveyed the first time, I was the chairman of the association. But after the funds came down from the hall, the TNI went down. Moreover, we got the news that won the TNI tender, but why was it given to civilians to do it," Enembe said.

"If you want to make the Papuan people prosperous, then involve Papuans in every job while guarding work, it's only safe," he continued.

Enembe said, armed groups in the Nduga region already knew of officers who often disguised themselves as civilians, moreover the bridge work in Nduga was known to be done by the TNI so they did it like that.

Nevertheless, Governor Lukas Enembe advised that the Papuan people should not be provoked by the incident in Nduga District, because those who did it were armed groups who demanded independence.

"You don't need to think about it because it has become the duty of the TNI. What must be guarded is not to let ordinary people become victims. Therefore, we will meet and discuss this," he said.

"Maybe later there will be an investigation team that will check the situation that happened in Nduga, with the hope that there will not be any civilians who become victims," he continued. (*)

AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL (NIGERIA) IS WORKING HARD TO DESTABILISE NIGERIA

The Nigerian branch of Amnesty International that has hitherto been well respected has deviated from the core values, principles and objectives of the original Amnesty International domiciled in the United Kingdom. There is credible information that the Nigerian branch of the International Non-governmental Organisation is determined to destabilise the Nigerian nation.

This is noted through fabrication of fictitious allegations of alleged human rights abuses against the Nigerian security forces and clandestine sponsorship of dissedent groups to protest, as well as unfounded allegations against the leadership of the Nigerian military. They have tried over the years using Boko Haram terrorists conflicts, Islamic Movement in Nigeria, some activists and now herders-farmers conflicts.

The NGO is at the verge of releasing yet another concorted report against the military, ostensibly against the Nigerian Army. Consequently, Nigerians should be wary of Amnesty International (Nigeria) because it's goals are to destabilise Nigeia and to dismember it. The Nigerian Army has no option than to call for the closure of Amnesty International offices in Nigeria, if such recklessness continues.

Thank you for your kind information.

SANI KUKASHEKA USMAN
Brigadier General
Director Army Public Relations
17th December 2018
Papua Nuguni, Gatra.com - Commander of the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPN), the Free Papua Organization (OPM), Goliath Tabuni stated that he was ready to serve the attitude of the Indonesian security forces, namely the TNI and Polri.

"We have followed all the statements of Indonesian security officials through social media. Please write the brother in law (brother), that we will fight until the last drop of blood. This is our country, the time we gave up, "Goliath told Gatra.com through an international telephone connection on Wednesday (5/11).

He confirmed that 31 of the dead were shot dead by his men from the Papua District Command Headquarters (Makodip III) Ndugama, the head of Egi Kogoya with the District Military Commander Kogoya.

This III Kodip is under the Kodap VI Lapego which oversees the Kodim Pegunungan Bintang, Wamena, Lani Jaya, Puncak Jaya, Nduga, Yakuhimo, Yalimo, Membramo Tengah and Tolikara.

"My subordinates led the shootings, because the orders were united. It was decided at a meeting at the TPN OPM Headquarters in the jungle of Papua in the middle of November 2018. That anyone who disrupts the ceremony of the Independence Day of Free Papua, will be shot dead. Our members know and let him also be shot dead at the base, "said Goliath Tabuni.

Therefore, said Goliat Tabuni, it was very funny that there was a statement by Indonesian officials that members of the OPM TPN PB surrendered or were shot dead.

"This is a classic statement. Just like the song just repeated refrain. From year to year, we always shoot dead many people, including TNI and Polri. They always ask us to surrender or be shot dead. If you want to shoot, just come to our base, right, "said Goliath Tabuni, who was accompanied by Anton Tabuni.

Because the demand for surrender, said Goliath Tabuni, is a classic, so it doesn't need to be ignored "In war science there is no terror that opponents are asked to surrender or be shot dead. If you want to shoot, just shoot. Why use everything, "he said.
