OPM Threatens Indonesian Sovereignty

The killing of workers by the OPM is considered a Serious threat of Sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia

Very concerned about the shooting of Istaka Karya workers who were working on a bridge project in Trans Papua in Yigi District, Nduga Regency, Papua, said Member of DPR Commission I, Arwani Thomafi.

The authorities must immediately control the situation and make sure about the number of victims given the confusion of information.

"This event poses a serious threat to the sovereignty of the NKRI and the course of development programs in Papua which are being promoted by the government. The motive for the attack is no longer ordinary criminals but terrorizing national security and threats to the NKRI," he said through a release received on Tuesday (4 / 12/2018).

He asked the security forces to be firm. According to him this attack must be stopped. Do not let the country be defeated by the terror of armed gangs that threaten the NKRI.

"If the motives are no longer ordinary criminals, then there is a need for maximum involvement of the TNI apparatus. Although it does not rule out the role of the National Police in restoring security in Papua. This event also shows that the existence of separatist movements in Papua still exists," he said.

The Chairperson of the PPP Faction in the MPR also encouraged the National Police and the TNI to increase security, especially in the red zone areas and strategic project sites, especially in areas with high potential vulnerability. The incident that happened to Istaka Karya workers must be a signal to increase awareness.

"Encouraging the National Intelligence Security Agency (Baintelkam) and the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) to improve early detection, especially in security-prone areas," concluded the PPP politician.

Arwani added that this event should not make the government's good will recede to continue development in Papua and other regions. Of course with the guarantee of security forces, so that similar events do not occur with workers who are building infrastructure in Papua.

"There must be guarantees of safety and security for all workers and also the people in Papua," he concluded. (*) Sindonews
